A batch of muffins, some hungry Flight Attendants and a love of baking led to the launch of The Flying Muffin in 1995 for Wendy Scott.
After falling for a country farmer, Wendy swapped flying for farming and moved to a property near Numurkah to raise a family and milk 120 cows on a 60ha property.
Wendy turned to making her delicious muffins in her home kitchen following the pressure the drought created on the farm. She began cold calling small businesses to set up appointments to sample her products and participating in farmers markets.
Wendy now has a shop front in Numurkah and is baking over 150 dozen muffins per week. Her muffins are stocked in schools as well as IGA supermarkets.
“I love the way of life here and the small, safe town atmosphere,” Wendy said.
