Consult the Job-Ready Database (SMP)
Updated monthly, the Job Ready Database lists migrants who have been vetted by the Skilled Migration Program, and:
- have had their skills assessed as comparable to Australian standards by an industry body;
- have had an English language test, the results of which are detailed;
- meet licensing or registration requirements where necessary; and
- are currently living in Australia and ready to move to regional Victoria.
Contact the Goulburn Murray Skilled Migration Coordinator to access this database.
Consult the Skill Matching Database (DIMA)
The Skill Matching Database is a free web based tool that helps employers locate skilled workers who want to migrate to Australia. There are over 6000 people registered who have good English, are under 45 years of age and have qualifications that meet Australian migration standards.
The database provides a snapshot of a migrant’s skills and experience and you are able to request a number of resumes for consideration. You may choose to sponsor skilled workers from this database as an employee.
Participate in international and domestic skills expos
The Department for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) regularly host international skills expos overseas, as well as domestic skills expos. Employers are encouraged to participate in the expos to promote the career opportunities available and to advertise any employment vacancies.
To find out more information about participating in skills expos go to www.immi.gov.au
Your regulating Industry Body
Contact your relevant industry body to ascertain if they can provide assistance in sourcing skilled migrants, or if they can put you in contact with another employer within your industry that has successfully sourced skilled migrants.
Contact Melbourne based Migrant Resource Centres:
Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) are frequently contacted by skilled migrants seeking employment opportunities. For MRC contact details go to www.immi.gov.au/settle/help/vic2.htm
Private international recruitment companies/migration agents
You can search on the internet for private recruitment companies and migration agents that specialise in recruiting skilled migrants and process immigration applications for relocation to Australia. A migration agent will provide you with advice on the migration process and will assist with your application to the Department of Immigration. Most companies and agents charge the employer a fee for this process; therefore request all information on fees and charges prior to engaging a recruitment company.
Migration Agents in the Goulburn Murray Region are listed in the white and yellow pages.
The regulating industry body for Migration Agents is the Migration Agents Registration Authority. For more information in relation to migration agents, go to www.themara.com.au.
